Anti wrinke injections

Wrinkles are completely natural but appear differently for every person. Some may love their frown lines, while others may want to have them smoothed out or removed.
Overtime, lines may develop on your face because of factors such as aging, sun exposure, dehydration, smoking, gravity and poor nutrition. They are also created by your own facial expressions due to constantly contracting from laughing, smiling and frowning.
The purpose of anti-wrinkle injections is to offer a non-surgical and minimally invasive solution to improving and maintaining the appearance of your facial skin. This anti-wrinkle reduction procedure works best for wrinkles caused by muscle overactivity, such as forehead creases, frown lines and crow’s feet.

How it works

The anti-wrinkle injections temporarily reduce and eliminate facial wrinkles by blocking the nerve impulses to the muscles that cause wrinkles and creases to appear and thicken over time.
Botulinum toxin is a naturally occurring protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.
The toxin blocks the transition of chemical messages sent from the nerve to cause the muscle to contract. Without these messages, the muscle stays in a resting state until the chemical communication between muscle and nerve recover. This recovery may takes approximately 8 to 12 weeks on average.
Anti-wrinkle treatment is quick, safe and highly effective.
You will begin to see results soon after treatment and the recovery time is very fast. Other than some swelling and possible bruising around the treatment area, the majority of patients will have no other post-treatment symptoms.

Risks

All treatments carry a degree of risk. All risks and complications will be discussed at your consultation and prior to any treatment being agreed.
Side effects include:

  • Bruising.
  • Swelling at injection sites.
  • Redness at injection sites.
  • Asymmetry of expression.
  • Drooping of the brow, or eyelid.
  • Headache or a sensation of ‘heaviness’.

Adverse events are uncommon, usually occur within a few days of treatment and are expected to be temporary, usually resolving spontaneously within weeks.

Aftercare

For the first 6 hours following the procedure you shouldn’t lie flat, there is a risk that the botulinum toxin will spread out too much, possibly in the wrong direction.
It’s important not to rub or massage the treated area for the first 6 hours. It’s no problem to lightly touch it in order to wash it, but prolonged intense pressure should be avoided.
Non-mineral make-up is not recommended for at least 6 hours following any treatment.
Smoking and drinking alcohol should be avoided. Refrain from taking any hot showers, baths or hot tub.
After a few days the effect of the botulinum toxin will become noticeable and after 2 weeks the result is optimal.
